FOOD PANTRY
Campus: Port Kennedy
In March 2023, the Port Kennedy campus launched a Food Pantry Program in partnership with OzHarvest, an Australian food rescue organisation.
What started with handing out four to five hampers a week has now grown to around thirty to forty hampers a week! This incentive has been an incredible opportunity to connect with local chaplains, schools and the community.
The Port Kennedy campus has become a hub for chaplains to collect food for their school community and breakfast clubs, in addition to connecting people in their schools to receive hampers.
PRISON MINISTRY
Campus: Belmont
PLAYGROUP
Campuses: Belmont, Bunbury, Myaree & Port Kennedy
Our pastoral care team runs community playgroups each week to connect with families with children aged 0-5 across the cities of Belmont, Bunbury, Melville & Rockingham. We regularly see community families come along to these safe and welcoming environments.
The playgroups across our campuses have been thriving. Playgroups were at capacity in terms one and two, with 220 families from the local community attending and many more on waitlists. This space has allowed families to find a community where they can invite others from their worlds who may also benefit from it.
HEROES ACADEMY
Campuses: Bunbury, Myaree & Port Kennedy
Heroes Academy is a ministry of Nations Church that seeks to support West Australian children with diagnosed additional needs and their families.
Mega Play Dates are for primary school-aged children and their siblings. These events enable parents/caregivers to enjoy a well-deserved break while their children experience a fun-filled, activity-packed play date!
Heroes Academy Playgroup runs weekly for parents/caregivers for 0–5-year-olds with additional needs. Heroes Academy Playgroup provides a safe space to share with others while the children engage in developmentally appropriate play.
Heroes Academy has not only blessed the families and volunteers involved in it, but it has also shown them the love of Jesus and reached far more people than we could have ever imagined. What an honour it is to be able to be part of what God is doing in this space.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Campus: Myaree
Throughout the school term, our youth team visits local high schools to connect with teenagers, build relationships and share the Gospel. The team runs fun events for the students to help engage with the community’s youth, and invites them to our Friday youth programs as appropriate.
The high school teams consistently go into a number of schools across Perth, building relationships with students and school staff. God’s favour and grace has been so evident, as He has opened so many doors of opportunity, opened people’s hearts and given the High Schools Team unique strategy to connect with students and to show them the love of Jesus.
Many students have since started attending Nations Youth and experienced the reality of God for the first time. Countless teenage lives have been turned around from feeling hopeless and lost to finding purpose in God and thriving in church community.
UNIVERSITIES OUTREACH
Campus: Myaree
Every week of the semester, our young adults team hosts events at the student village, connecting with regional and international students living away from their families.
During the stressful exam season, the team provides students with exam care packs and serves free community dinners. We desire to reach young adults local to our community who need connection and a loving family of faith – physically outworking the mandate of seeing the Lost Found, Disciples Made and Nations reached.
The university outreach team has spent the two years coming into Murdoch University on Monday nights to serve dessert and to build community with students living on campus. The team have had the privilege of building friendships with Murdoch students studying here from Paris, Japan, the US, India, and many other countries.
Through these friendships, the outreach team has been able to introduce students to Jesus and connect them with the church community. Most of these students have never stepped foot in a church nor heard of the Gospel but most of them have since come to know Jesus and his love. Many students now regularly attend Nations Church and connect groups, with many of them looking to get baptised!
LOVE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Campus: All WA Campuses
All our WA campuses will host a Christmas party to share the love and joy of Jesus at Christmas time to bless the people and families that we’ve connected with in our local communities.
